The Avon Valley Troop was formed at Northam in the heart of the Avon region in 2001. with a riding member group of seven.
Our membership includes Associate members and Non riders as well as riders.
The aim is to promote inspiration from, and pride in, the Australian Light Horse, especially in relation to the great personal sacrifices made on the battlefield which enables us to enjoy the freedom we have today.
To obtain and preserve for historical purposes, the uniforms, weapons and equipment used by the Australian Light Horse Regiments, and in particular the 10th.Light Horse Regiment.
To this end one of our members has a very large travelling Light Horse Display, enabling us to visit schools and events all over the state of Western Australia.
For all Anzac Day Parades and other ceremonial parades the troop always parades in the uniform of WW1 period.
All riding members must be registered members of the Australian Light Horse Association.
